About ME

Hello, this is DralgieXArt, but you can call me Dralgie for short :)
~
First and foremost, I am a Christian, a sinner saved by God’s grace alone, and I consider this to be an integral part of my identity. I’m also a female art hobbyist and aspiring artist who loves both traditional and digital art. Some of my favourite mediums are gouache, charcoal, acrylic markers and brush ink pens. I enjoy using Krita for digital art, and have dabbled a little with Blender as well. Since childhood, I have been easily enthralled by nature and wildlife; I can never get bored of gazing at tree leaves glistening in the sun, or watching little birds hop about! It’ll be no surprise then, why my artwork is often plant and animal themed!For ages, I longed to tell stories through my art. I just had one problem: I couldn’t quite draw! Even past my childhood, I almost exclusively drew humans as bald, nose-less stickmen. The first time I attempted to draw an animal from a photo reference, I was so daunted that I gave up within minutes…For years, I often caught myself dreaming about drawing and painting cool things, only to be hit with the disappointing reality that I couldn’t actually do that… That was, until it finally occurred to me: I will never be able to draw if I never learn how to! With newfound determination, I began studying whatever resources I could find online — YouTube videos, blogs, books and even just staring very intently at pro-artists’ works. I am truly grateful to all the inspiring artists who have shared their craft and knowledge for others to learn from :)Coupled with practice, I was pleasantly surprised to see improvement over time. Now, I really believe drawing is a learnable skill, and, perhaps, the greatest stumbling block all along was my own mindset.
I feel that my journey has just only begun, and I still have so much to learn and improve on. Despite this, I finally feel ready to share my own artwork and inner thoughts along the way.There are so many things I dream of doing, and I admit that I have a tendency to get carried away. So I’ll have to constantly remind myself to take things one step at a time, looking to God who directs my steps!

About Droco

You may be wondering: what is that crocodile-like creature in my profile picture?He is none other than Droco — a silly little character I accidentally created while mindlessly doodling on an opened envelope. As for what he is, I’m just going to call him a… baby Floral Dracodilian. In other words: he is part flower, part dragon, but mostly croc. He has since become my favourite character and mascot! You'll likely be seeing more of him in the future ;)
